🗺️ Senkoji Park千光寺公園

At an elevation of 144.2 meters, Senkoji Mountain is one of the three mountains of Onomichi, and the expansive park that stretches from the summit down to the mid-slope is Senkoji Park. It takes only about 3 minutes to easily reach Senkoji Park from the city center by cable car. While riding the cable car, you can also enjoy a bird's-eye view of the cityscape of Onomichi, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Senkoji Park is recognized as one of the "Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots in Japan." In spring, the view of the town surrounded by blooming cherry blossoms offers a unique charm. The park features a walking path called "Literature Path," which has twenty-five stone monuments inscribed with the verses of literary figures who have connections to Onomichi. This path also leads to Senkoji Temple. Additionally, the park includes the Onomichi City Museum of Art, designed by the world-renowned architect Tadao Ando.

The park covers the area from the summit to the hillside of 千光寺山 (Chikōji Mountain). It is famous for its cherry blossoms and night views. It takes only about 3 minutes to reach the summit by cable car from the foot of the mountain. The scenery seen from the cable car is particularly magnificent. Designated as a "lovers' sanctuary," it is a very popular spot for couples.
