About Shibamata Park
It encapsulates the past and present scenery of Shibamata, allowing you to experience the Edogawa River and the beauty of nature in a comprehensive park.
Details
After exiting Shibamata Station on the Keisei Kanamachi Line, cross the approach to Shibamata Taishakuten, and turn right to walk towards Shibamata Park. Shibamata Park includes the "Katsushika Shibamata Torajiro Memorial Hall," where you can experience the world of the Japanese national film "Tora-san," as well as the "Yoji Yamada Museum," which holds the director Yoji Yamada's beliefs during film production. There is also the charming Japanese garden "Yamamoto-tei." This comprehensive park, which encompasses the Edogawa riverbank area, also serves as a flood control levee. In spring (late March to early April), Shibamata Park is a great spot for cherry blossom viewing, while in early summer (early to mid-May), it is known for its azalea blooms. Climbing up the levee offers a wide view, with the blue waters of the Edogawa River and the lush greenery around creating a very pleasant atmosphere. There is also a corner of the grassy plaza on the levee featuring an iris flower field. Adjacent to the Katsushika Shibamata Torajiro Memorial Hall, the tourism and cultural center on the second floor of Building B has a bicycle rental center (open only on weekends and public holidays, closed during the year-end and New Year period). Riding a bicycle along the "Edogawa Cycling Road" along the levee is very enjoyable. This cycling path prohibits car traffic, allowing you to safely enjoy the pleasure of cycling.
