🗺️ Shigeru Mizuki Memorial Museum

The Mizuki Shigeru Memorial Museum is located in the birthplace of the well-known creator of "GeGeGe no Kitaro," Mizuki Shigeru, in Sakaiminato City, Tottori Prefecture. From JR "Sakaiminato" Station, it takes about a 14-minute walk along the "Mizuki Shigeru Road" to reach the museum. The first thing that catches your eye is the statue of Mizuki Shigeru and Kitaro, welcoming every visitor at the "Kitaro Entrance." As you enter the museum and follow the signs, you will soon arrive at the "Mizuki Shigeru's Manga World" exhibition area, which introduces Mizuki's works. Continuing inside the museum, there is the "Mizuki Gallery," which displays original wall paintings and reproductions of original artworks; the "Half Asleep, Half Awake Life Room," which narrates Mizuki's life journey; "Mizuki Shigeru's Studio"; and "Childhood Anecdotes," showcasing the origins of his creations related to yokai. After passing through the "Yokai Cave," you can reach the "Yokai Plaza," which introduces yokai from legends across Japan. Next is the "Life Scroll Corridor," leading to the final exhibition, "TV Animation 'GeGeGe no Kitaro (6th Series)' and 'Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan'." Visiting this museum allows one to gain insight into Mizuki Shigeru's life and his thoughts on manga and yokai, deepening one's knowledge about these creatures.
