The visitor center located next to Lake Shikotsu, known for its transparent clarity, has the theme "Into the Forest, Mountains, and Lakes: Embark on a Different Journey at Lake Shikotsu." It introduces the history of Lake Shikotsu through images, models, and more, showcasing the appearance of the active volcano that continues to be active today, as well as the ecology of the surrounding wildlife. The thoughtful addition is that the visuals are available in multiple languages.
In 2020, VR glasses were introduced. Through VR images, visitors can enter restricted areas such as the Moss Cave, the shores of Lake Okoanpe, and even the depths of Lake Shikotsu, which has received high praise from tourists. Additionally, various activities are regularly held to deeply explore the rich nature of Lake Shikotsu. By participating in observation events, mountain climbing, and other activities, one can gain a deeper understanding of the enchanting charm of Lake Shikotsu (prior registration is required for participation).
At the entrance of the center, two brown bear specimens greet visitors, and there is a service desk equipped with walking maps of the Lake Shikotsu area, making it a must-visit stop before embarking on a sightseeing tour of Lake Shikotsu.

Basically, there are only Japanese and English guidebooks. The visitor center's introduction booklet is available in Japanese, English, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. The introduction video for Lake Shikotsu is available in Japanese, English, Korean, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, and Thai.
Is free Wi-Fi available in the facility?

Getting There
(1) Transfer from JR "Chitose" Station or "Minami-Chitose" Station to the Hokkaido Chuo Bus heading towards Lake Shikotsu (system number: Sora 4) and get off at the terminal stop "Lake Shikotsu." (2) Take the Hokkaido Chuo Bus from New Chitose Airport towards Lake Shikotsu (boarding points: Domestic Terminal 28, 1; International Terminal 85) for about 55 minutes, and get off at the terminal stop "Lake Shikotsu."

From the end of the year to the beginning of the year, from December to March, we are closed on Tuesdays (no days off during the 氷濤祭, Ice Festival).
