The Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal (BUSTA Shinjuku) officially opened in 2016 at the south exit of JR Shinjuku Station and is the largest expressway bus terminal in Japan. It has stops for 90 expressway bus companies. Buses operate more than 1,600 times a day, traveling from Aomori in the north to Fukuoka in the south. Before the opening of the Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal, 19 expressway bus stops scattered around Shinjuku Station were consolidated into one location. It is directly connected to the new south ticket gate of JR Shinjuku Station, so passengers don't have to worry about getting wet in the rain. The integration of the railway station, bus terminal, and taxi stand makes transfers smoother and significantly enhances the convenience of taking the bus for travelers. On the fourth floor of the expressway bus boarding area, there are gift shops selling various souvenirs and convenience stores where travelers can purchase items needed for their journey before boarding. The third floor features the expressway bus drop-off area and a taxi stand, as well as a Tokyo Metropolitan Tourism Information Center, which provides sightseeing information for Tokyo and other regions of Japan in Japanese, English, Chinese, and Korean. Additionally, the facility offers free Wi-Fi services for foreign tourists.
