The Sleep Demon House WARASSE is located in front of Aomori Station, with its striking deep red exterior. The museum opened in 2011 and specializes in exhibits related to the "Aomori Nebuta Festival," which takes place from August 2 to 7 each year. The highlight of the museum is the large Nebuta lanterns that participate in the festival parade. The exhibition hall features a spacious area that connects the first and second floors, showcasing several Nebuta lanterns that are 9 meters wide, 7 meters long, and 5 meters high, creating a spectacular scene. Inside the museum, music and drum sounds from the festival play, allowing visitors to feel as if they are immersed in the festival atmosphere.
The Sleep Demon House also has several areas introducing the history and production process of the Aomori Nebuta Festival. By visiting these exhibits, one can appreciate the passion of the Aomori people for the Nebuta Festival. Three live performances of accompanying music for the Nebuta Festival are held daily, along with various experiential activities that recreate scenes from the festival.
