A facility that conveys the charm of Uji tea and the historical culture of Uji. It occupies a vast area of 2.5 hectares, preserving and utilizing the remains of the "Uji River Taiko Embankment" excavated in 2007, divided into the "Historic Area" and the "Exchange Area."
In the "Historic Area," there is a restored scene of the "Uji River Taiko Embankment," which is said to have been built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi to connect land and water routes in Fushimi. There is also the "Shukei Tea Garden," which recreates a tranquil tea garden landscape, the "Ki no Niwa" planted with various seasonal plants, and the "Yadate no Niwa," which hosts outdoor activities, allowing visitors to stroll leisurely.
In the "Exchange Area," centered around "Chazuna" (connecting through tea), there is a museum that conveys the charm of Uji tea and Uji's history, as well as restaurants and shops. Visitors can experience grinding matcha using a tea mill, learn about the differences between freshly ground matcha and commercially available matcha, and enjoy tasting Uji tea through various tea-related experiences. Experience activities are held daily.
