About Ubuya Inari Shrine

The stunning 91 red torii gates! A scenic spot that represents the energy of floating feathers.

Details

In 1957, a shrine was built to enshrine the Inari Daimyōjin, a deity that was a split spirit from the Fushimi Inari Taisha in Kyoto. It also enshrines Ōyamakuzuchi no Kami, a split spirit from Matsuo Taisha, and Sugawara no Michizane, a split spirit from Dazaifu Tenmangū, making a total of three deities. The shrine is quite well-known as an energy spot, offering blessings for prosperous business, abundant harvests, sake brewing, health, and academic achievements. The scene of 91 red torii gates forming a straight line amidst lush greenery has gained significant attention on social media in recent years. Climbing the 300 steps to the top reveals the main hall, and the view of the Chikushi Plain from above is breathtaking. The beautiful contrast of the red torii gates, blue sky, and green plains is stunning. In spring, the main hall and torii gates are adorned with cherry blossoms, and one can overlook the charming sight of cherry trees lining both sides of the Chikugogawa River, extending for about 2 kilometers. The evening sunset and the night view after the torii gates are lit up are also dreamlike in their beauty. You can purchase goshuin (temple stamps) at the shrine (handwritten goshuin for 500 yen, pre-printed goshuin starting from 300 yen). They are also available at the local supermarket "SUNPIT VALUE" in Ukihata Town.
