🍜 Waguri Specialty Saori

📝 Introduction

1mm thin layers of Danbo chestnut stacked together, creating a delicate and beautiful Mont Blanc.

📖 Details

Waguri Specialty Weaving is a chestnut specialty store located by the Kamo River in Kiyamachi, Kyoto, which opened in 2019. It offers a wide range of desserts made from the highest quality chestnuts, specifically the Tamba chestnut. The signature dessert is the Mont Blanc "Weaving" made with Tamba chestnuts, featuring a delicate layering that resembles fabric, with chestnuts only 1mm in diameter. Only 100 servings are available each day, allowing you to savor the rich aroma and the soft, meringue-like texture upon tasting. Other popular desserts include the "Waguri and Seasonal Fruit Platter," which pairs seasonal fruits with chestnuts, and the "Chestnut Powder Mochi," which features shiratama topped with chestnut cream and sprinkled with chestnut powder. Starting from 11 AM, there is also a takeout dessert called "1mm Waguri Mont Blanc Ice Cream - Aya," served in cute cups. The shop is transformed from a former ryokan (traditional inn) and its exterior design blends seamlessly into Kiyamachi Street, which is lined with many long-established snack shops. The first floor of the store features an open kitchen where you can watch the delicate and beautiful dessert-making process. Due to its popularity, number tickets are distributed starting in the morning, so it is recommended to arrive early.
