About West Lake Healing Village Genba
Explore and experience Japan's pristine landscapes, thatched-roof houses, and Mount Fuji.
Details
At the lakeside of Lake Saiko, where one can gaze at Mount Fuji and the Aokigahara Forest, there is a place called "Nemba." Originally, there was a whole row of thatched-roof houses here, but after being devastated by a typhoon in 1966, the entire settlement was nearly lost. To revive the traditional thatched-roof village of Japan's original scenery, "Saiko Healing Village Nemba" opened in 2006. About 20 thatched-roof houses have been restored, recreating the rural landscape of that time. Each building has a different theme, including restaurants, souvenir and local product shops, and experience classrooms, allowing visitors to spend a relaxing and healing time while enjoying the view of Mount Fuji.
