The nickname for Prefectural Road 11, which runs from Beppu in Oita Prefecture to Ichinomiya in Kumamoto Prefecture. Enjoy a carefree and exhilarating drive amidst the majestic Kuju Mountains and stunning scenery along the way.
This approximately 50-kilometer scenic route features plateaus, sightseeing ranches, hot springs, and many attractions worth seeing and visiting. It is recommended to take your time and enjoy the pleasure of a leisurely drive.
Among the must-visit spots, the scenery at "Chojahara" is not to be missed. You can get a close-up view of the smoke-emitting sulfur mountain, which is quite an impressive sight. The panoramic view from the highest point of the road, the Makinohoto Pass, is also worth capturing with your camera. Don't forget to enjoy local delicacies or shopping along the way.
Please be aware that some sections of the route may have grazing cows or horses straying onto the roadway, so drive with caution. Additionally, there are many curves along the route, so please do not drive too fast.
