About Yu no Taki (Waterfall of Hot Springs)
From the "Viewing Platform" at the bottom of the waterfall pool, you can closely admire the magnificent waterfall scenery.
Details
Yunoko Lake is located at the foot of Mount Nikkō Shirane, one of Japan's top 100 famous mountains. It is a dammed lake formed by the lava flow from the Sanmyaku volcano blocking the flow of the Yutagawa River. The Yuno Falls, which is located on the southern shore of Yunoko Lake, showcases a stunning view of the lake water cascading down the rocky walls of the Sanmyaku lava flow. With a drop of 70 meters and a length of 110 meters, Yuno Falls is renowned alongside Kegon Falls and Ryūtō Falls as one of the "Three Great Falls of Oku-Nikkō."
There is a walking path along the side of the waterfall, allowing visitors to appreciate the majestic falls from different angles, including the waterfall's base, the plunge pool, and the side view. The most thrilling experience is the observation deck set up at the base of the waterfall, where visitors can closely admire the powerful cascade. The area around Yuno Falls is famous for its azaleas and rhododendrons, attracting many flower-viewing tourists every spring.
Additionally, there is a hiking trail from the observation deck of the waterfall to the "Battlefield Plain Nature Research Trail," where visitors can enjoy a leisurely walk while taking in the scenery. Along the hike, one can also see wetlands listed under the Ramsar Convention and the natural landscapes of the Nikkō mountain range.
Highlights
