📖 Ibusuki no Tamatebako Train

📝 Introduction

Take a ride on the eagerly anticipated sightseeing train, resembling a beautiful treasure box, and explore the land of "Ryugu Legend."

📖 Details

The sightseeing train running between Kagoshima Chuo Station and Ibusuki Station operates three round trips a day, with all seats reserved. The train's name is derived from the "Dragon Palace Legend" of the Satsuma Peninsula. The exterior of the train is designed in black and white to depict the story of "Urashima Taro, who originally had black hair and turned into a white-haired old man after opening the tamatebako." Additionally, the design of the train doors spraying mist when opened is inspired by "the white smoke that emerged when Urashima Taro opened the tamatebako." Car 1 features interiors made of teak, commonly used in passenger ships and sailing boats, while Car 2 is made of cedar from southern Kyushu. It offers various unique seating options, including sofa seats surrounded by bookshelves, private compartments suitable for group travelers, and children's seating. There are also bar counter seats facing the sea, allowing passengers to enjoy views of Kagoshima Bay and Sakurajima through the windows. The travel time is approximately 50 minutes. Passengers can enjoy the "Ibusuki Tamatebako Bento" filled with delicious Kagoshima dishes (reservation required online), local desserts, and beverages, adding more enjoyment to the journey.
