📖 Tateyama Kogen Bus

The popular mountain sightseeing route through the majestic nature of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route features a bus service operating between Bijodaira and Murodo. This route spans a total length of 37.2 kilometers with a maximum elevation difference of 1,975 meters, leading to the Northern Alps at an altitude of 3,000 meters. The section connecting Bijodaira to Murodo, which is at an elevation of 2,450 meters, covers 23 kilometers and takes about 50 minutes by bus. The bus climbs over peaks at an altitude of 2,000 meters, offering views of the magnificent mountain scenery, including the Tateyama cedars, the Kanden Falls, and the Murodo Plateau. From mid-April to late June each year, a snow wall known as the "Yuki no Ootani" (Snow Canyon), approximately 500 meters long, is created in front of Murodo. During the "Yuki no Ootani WALK," one lane is opened for pedestrians, allowing visitors to walk and admire the spectacular snow wall, making it a popular tourist attraction. The Alpine Route does not permit general vehicles, so it is recommended to take the Tateyama Kogen Bus for sightseeing.

The route bus that travels between Bijin Bay and Murodo takes about 50 minutes. Along the way, it crosses peaks at an altitude of 2,000 meters, offering magnificent mountain scenery such as the Tateyama cedars and the Chōmeiji Falls visible from the window. From mid-April to late June each year, the "Snow Wall" in front of Murodo opens for visitors. The "Snow Wall WALK" allows you to walk and enjoy the spectacular snow walls.
