Kagoshima Chuo Station is the terminus of the Kyushu Shinkansen and serves as a transportation hub for various routes. The Gourmet Alley and Souvenir Alley are located right next to the exit on the second floor of JR Kagoshima Chuo Station. "Souvenir Alley" features 25 shops selling local gifts, including unique Japanese and Western-style sweets that can only be found here, as well as famous Kagoshima products, offering a dazzling array of items. The light jelly from "Akashiya" and the Satsuma fried fish cakes from "Tsukiyouan" are the most classic local souvenirs. If you're looking for authentic shochu brewed from the rich local terroir, it's recommended to check out "Satsuma Shochu Kura." There are also various processed foods like Japanese herring, bonito, and brown sugar, as well as shops selling traditional crafts such as Oshima Tsumugi and cut glass. Next door, "Gourmet Alley" is known for Kagoshima's culinary delights, famous for its delicious black pork tonkatsu and shabu-shabu at "Ooyama," the dried goods made with Sakurajima volcanic ash at "Sakurajima Haikan Kiyosuke," and the refreshing tonkotsu broth at "ZABON Ramen," among many other local renowned establishments gathered in this area.

Located at the exit of JR Kagoshima Chuo Station, there are numerous souvenir shops and dining establishments. You can find classic Kagoshima gifts such as light soup, Satsuma-age (fried fish cakes), and shochu (a type of Japanese spirit).
