📖 Kitahama Station

Every year from February to March, at the nearest station to the Sea of Okhotsk, the North Bihon Station, you can see the sea surface covered with drift ice, creating a unique landscape of pure white. This mysterious beauty captivates all visiting tourists. Next to the wooden station building, there is a drift ice observation deck where you can gaze upon the vast drift ice sea. With temperatures below freezing, be sure to wear gloves, a thick coat, and other necessary cold-weather gear. Inside the waiting room of the station building, the walls and ceiling are covered with business cards and tickets left by visiting tourists as mementos. Next to the waiting room is a café called "Parking Lot." Here, you can enjoy the "Parking Lot Lunch Set," which includes coffee, a hamburger with a fried egg, and other dishes like "Okhotsk Ramen," featuring crab, scallops, shrimp, salmon roe, and salmon. It’s a great place to dine or enjoy a coffee while admiring the sea view outside the window. Since trains will enter the station, it is very dangerous to walk into the tracks. If you continue along the tracks, you might accidentally step on the drift ice and get swept away, so please be careful not to walk on the tracks.
