📖 Details
Operated by Kagoshima City, this public ferry connects Kagoshima Port and Sakurajima Port. The 15-minute boat ride allows you to easily enjoy a journey at sea.
The ferry comes in four different types, capable of carrying about 500 passengers and around 60 small vehicles. Each ferry not only has different facilities but also has cute nicknames like "Sakura Fairy" or "Princess Marine." The biggest feature of the Sakurajima Ferry is that it operates 24 hours a day. On weekends and national holidays, there is a ferry every 15 minutes during the day and every 60 minutes at night, making it super convenient for both local residents and tourists.
The ticket prices are quite affordable: 250 yen for adults and 130 yen for children aged 1 to 12. Payments can be made using various electronic wallets or credit cards.
In addition to collecting "Goshuin" (temple stamps) from shrines and temples across Japan, there is also a ferry version called "Gofunein." These can be purchased at the ticket counters at both ports and in the ferry's onboard shop. There are five different designs of the Sakurajima Ferry stamps, each printed with the date, making them perfect as souvenirs for your visit to Sakurajima.
