📖 JR Tadami Line

📝 Introduction

A railway route for seeking breathtaking hidden landscapes.

📖 Details

The JR Tadami Line is a railway route that connects Aizuwakamatsu Station in Fukushima Prefecture and Koide Station in Niigata Prefecture, spanning a total length of 135.2 kilometers. The train travels through the Tadami River gorge in the deep mountains, offering views of the beautiful seasonal scenery from the windows, including cherry blossoms in spring, lush greenery in summer, autumn leaves, and winter's snowy landscapes. Although it is a single-track local railway with mostly unmanned stations, it consistently ranks high in popularity among train travel votes, renowned for its spectacular scenery. The beauty of the landscape created by the train, bridges, and the Tadami River gorge is the greatest charm of the Tadami Line. Among the many breathtaking views along the route, the first Tadami River Bridge is particularly beloved. There are numerous photo spots along the national highway where one can capture stunning images of the valley adorned with seasonal colors, the emerald waters of the Tadami River, and the beautifully arched bridges blending with the trains. Occasionally, mist adds a dreamy atmosphere to the scenery. When the train passes scenic spots, it slows down and provides audio introductions to the highlights. There are also various thoughtful services available on the train, including the sale of local specialty products. Additionally, there is a sightseeing small train that operates for a limited time. This small train intentionally removes the window glass to allow passengers to enjoy the sensation of the gentle breeze. (The use of window glass will resume after October.)
