The Osaka Water Bus is a classic sightseeing boat for cruising around Osaka. The journey from Osaka Castle to Nakanoshima along the Okawa River through downtown Osaka takes about 40 minutes. Passengers can enjoy the lush scenery along the riverbank and the charming views of the numerous historical buildings.
As the boat departs from the Osaka Castle pier, you can immediately see Osaka Castle, as well as historical buildings like the Osaka City Central Public Hall, which opened in 1918, and tunnels that were once used for transporting weapons.
The historic bridges along the way, such as Tenmabashi, Yodoyabashi, and Tenjinbashi, are also quite noteworthy. These ancient bridges are used as place names for some neighborhoods in Osaka. The water bus features a glass roof, allowing passengers to closely observe the back of the bridges through the transparent glass skylight as the boat passes underneath. Onboard, you can enjoy a view of Osaka's streets at the same height as the water surface, offering a different perspective of the scenery.
During the water cruise, you can also see the seasonal changes along the riverbanks, including cherry blossoms, roses, and fresh greenery. Additionally, a variety of refreshing drinks and ice cream are available for purchase on the boat.
