📖 Tsugaru Railway Warmth Train

📝 Introduction

The warm stove train that announces the arrival of winter in Tsugaru.

📖 Details

The Tsugaru Railway runs from Tsugaru Goshogawara Station to Tsugaru Nakazato Station, covering a total length of about 20 kilometers from north to south. From December to March, the winter-only "Warm Stove Train" operates, featuring a sightseeing train where the cabin's heating uses a DARUMA stove that burns coal. The diesel train speeds through the frigid Tsugaru Plain, and the vintage-style vehicles, which retain a strong Showa-era charm, are also quite distinctive. Squid sold on board can be grilled on the stove and enjoyed alongside exclusive Japanese sake, making for a perfect pairing. There are local attendants on the train who provide interesting sightseeing information to passengers in fluent Tsugaru dialect. The Warm Stove Train only has three round trips per day. A regular ticket requires an additional fee of 500 yen for a one-way trip. The seats closest to the stove are warmer, so it is recommended to choose seats that are a bit further away. In addition to the Warm Stove Train, there is a "Wind Chime Train" in the summer and a "Cicada Train" that operates from late summer to early autumn.

⭐ Highlights
