📖 Takao Mountain Scenic Cable Car

📝 Introduction

Enjoy a stroll in the air with the gentle breeze at Mount Takao.

📖 Details

From the base station near Keio Takao-san-guchi Station (elevation 191 meters), there is a two-person sightseeing chairlift that goes to the summit station (elevation 462 meters). The total length is 872 meters, and it takes about 12 minutes one way. It runs parallel to Nature Research Route No. 1, and you can also choose to take a one-way trip. The sightseeing chairlift was inaugurated in October 1964 during the Tokyo Olympics, originally as a single-seat lift. In September 1971, it was upgraded to a two-person chairlift with a belt conveyor boarding system, becoming a major attraction for Takao-san tourism. The routes of the cable car and the chairlift are the same, and the ticket prices are also identical. On clear days, it is recommended to take the chairlift to enjoy the refreshing breeze and the spectacular view of the Kitayama-dai cedar below. While sitting on the chairlift, you can see seasonal flowers such as camellias, azaleas, and mountain cherries. In autumn, you can enjoy the vibrant colors of the maple leaves, making for a delightful aerial stroll.
