⛩️ Jofukuji Temple (Nagasaki Prefecture)

📝 Introduction

In the summer and autumn seasons, one can enjoy the breathtaking views of "reflected new greenery" and "reflected autumn leaves."

📖 Details

Jofuku-ji Temple, located in Sasebo City, Nagasaki Prefecture, is famous for its "Thousand Lantern Festival" held on August 23 and 24 each year, featuring a 22-meter tall tower made from approximately 3,500 lanterns. The temple was built in 1582 by Matsura Takanobu, the lord of Hirado. Not only does the festival attract numerous visitors, but the events "Reflections of New Green" and "Reflections of Autumn Leaves," held during the fresh green and autumn foliage seasons, also draw many worshippers. The concept of these events is to allow people to appreciate the trees planted in the garden from a more elegant perspective. Acrylic panels are embedded in the tatami mats of the main hall, reflecting the beauty of the new green and autumn leaves. This creative design enhances the scenery in the garden, making it even more picturesque. The temple is open for visits only during a short period in mid-May and mid-November, so it is recommended to check the latest information on the Nagasaki tourism information website before visiting.
