🍜 KARO's Udon Noodles

📝 Introduction

The rich and thick broth is irresistible, from a long-established shop founded in the 15th year of the Meiji era.

📖 Details

Founded in 1882 (Meiji 15), the long-established Hakata Udon shop "KARO no Udon (かろのうろん)" often sees long lines on weekends. The udon, which they take pride in, has a unique flavor, retaining the characteristic softness of Hakata udon while also offering the chewiness of freshly cooked noodles. Paired with a rich broth carefully prepared using Rausu kelp, it creates a perfect harmony. The most popular dish is the "Gobou Tempura Udon," topped with crispy burdock root tempura. The burdock tempura maintains its crispy texture even when soaked in the broth, making it a perfect combination with the soft yet chewy noodles and refreshing soup. Although simple, it is easily addictive, earning much praise. Other popular options include the "Maruten Udon," featuring round tempura made from minced fish, and the flavorful "Meat Udon." Don't miss out on the "Chicken Onigiri," which pairs perfectly with the refreshing udon. As a famous shop that always has long lines on weekends, it is recommended to visit before 11 AM or after 2 PM. The interior is rustic, and it has been a beloved Hakata udon shop since its establishment.
