🗺️ Kurashiki Denim Street
🎨 Attraction Gallery
📝 Introduction
On the retro shopping street, there are several well-known domestic denim brand stores.
📖 Details
In the once prosperous Minano Shopping Street of Kojima, there are over 40 shops, including denim stores, coffee shops, and galleries, standing side by side in vacant storefronts. Stretching about 400 meters from the historic Nozaki residence, which thrived during the salt-making industry, to the Kurashiki City Kojima Community Center, the area is divided into a northern and southern section.
The denim fabric, meticulously processed, is used to produce jeans made by fabric manufacturers with over 20 years of experience, along with shirts that pair well with jeans, denim suits, denim dresses, and various denim-related goods. Many stores showcase their unique styles.
Since the Meiji era, the Kojima region has gained fame as the "City of Fibers." The area began producing denim products in 1960 and is known as the birthplace of domestically produced jeans. From dyeing and weaving to sewing and processing, all are crafted through the unique artisan techniques of Kojima denim.
