🗺️ Mutsu Hydrangea Garden
🎨 Attraction Gallery
📝 Introduction
Japan's largest hydrangea garden! Step into a dreamlike world intertwined with 40,000 hydrangea plants.
📖 Details
In an area of approximately 150,000 square meters, there are up to 40,000 hydrangeas blooming all around. With as many as 400 varieties, including 山繡球花 (Yama Ajisai), 蝦夷繡球花 (Ezo Ajisai), and 西洋繡球花 (Seiyou Ajisai), it is considered the largest in Japan. The garden is open for just one month each year, from late June to late July, attracting a large number of flower-viewing tourists during the blooming season.
The park features about 2 kilometers of walking paths, taking approximately one hour to complete a loop, allowing visitors to leisurely stroll through the fragrant cedar forest while enjoying the elegant hydrangeas. There are multiple dining and resting areas where visitors can take a break or walk at their own pace. Additionally, since the paths are unpaved mountain trails, it is recommended to wear comfortable walking shoes.
In early July, close to the closing of the garden, a regular event called "Hydrangea Pond" is held, where trimmed hydrangeas float on the pond, creating a dreamy floral scene that covers the entire surface of the water. This sight evokes the famous works of French painter Claude Monet and is definitely worth seeing.
