🗺️ Artist Alley

📝 Introduction

The hidden alleys of Kagurazaka, where artists of the past used to come and go.

📖 Details

The "Geisha Alley" on the west side of Kagurazaka connects to the Minami-Yokocho and Oguri Street. In the past, many entertainers would pass through this road on their way to the "Minban" offices, which is how it got its name. The winding, narrow staircase is named the "Atami-yu Stairs" due to its proximity to the bathhouse "Atami-yu." This small road, only 20 to 30 meters long, is home to several renowned dining establishments. Among them are a Spanish restaurant recommended by the Michelin Guide - Tokyo Bib Gourmand and an elegant Japanese restaurant. On either side of the stone steps, old wooden buildings and modern shops are interspersed, creating a unique blend. When night falls, the dazzling lights add another layer of charm to Geisha Alley, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll while taking photos with a camera.

⭐ Highlights

Located on the west side of Kagurazaka, this small staircase path connects the Kenban Yokocho to Oguri Street, stretching about 20 to 30 meters. Due to its proximity to the public bath "Atami-yu," which is near the Geisha alley, it is also known as the "Atami-yu Staircase." Modern Japanese dining establishments line both sides of the stone steps, making it a popular photo spot. The surrounding area consists of private residential roads, so please maintain silence and observe etiquette while walking.
