🗺️ Takaoka Park

Located in Kajimachi, Aira City, Kagoshima, the park is about 2 kilometers from the city center. At an elevation of 155 meters, the park features an observation deck that offers a panoramic view of the cityscape and the nearby Kinko Bay, making it a well-known scenic spot. The iconic Sakurajima, a symbol of Kagoshima, is also clearly visible, presenting a more elegant triangular shape rather than the commonly seen trapezoidal form. Takaoka Park is renowned as a cherry blossom viewing destination, attracting numerous visitors during the blooming season. Approximately 300 cherry trees bloom, creating an outstanding scene where the fully blossomed cherry blossoms intertwine with the expansive views. This location is also famous for its night scenery; during the cherry blossom season, the illuminated night cherry blossoms against the backdrop of the city’s nightscape are particularly enchanting. Covering an area of 6.5 hectares, the park is equipped with large playground equipment, including slides, designed in the shape of the high-sugar "Kumahara Carrot" grown in nearby fields, which is why it is also referred to as "Carrot Park."

The park is located on a high plateau slightly away from the city of Aira. From the observation deck and other areas within the park, you can overlook the cityscape and Kinko Bay. In spring, it is a famous cherry blossom viewing spot, attracting a large number of flower-viewing tourists. Night illuminations are held during the cherry blossom blooming period. Playground equipment shaped like the local specialty "Kuwahara Red Carrot" is very popular.
