The "Benesse Art Site Naoshima" is an art project implemented on Naoshima, Teshima, and Inujima in the Seto Inland Sea. After 35 years of development, the "Naoshima New Art Museum" will officially open in 2025. The Naoshima New Art Museum is designed by the renowned architect Tadao Ando. It features two underground levels and one above-ground level, with four galleries planned across the three floors, along with a café that offers views of the Seto Inland Sea. The design emphasizes integration with the surrounding nature and local villages, creating a space where nature, architecture, and art come together to deeply convey the charm of art. The museum will showcase contemporary artworks by artists from Japan and various parts of Asia. The opening commemorative exhibition will invite 12 artists/groups, including Takashi Murakami, Makoto Aida, Marta Minujín, and Cai Guo-Qiang, to participate. Additionally, the museum frequently hosts lectures and workshops, making interaction with local residents and other visitors one of the enjoyable aspects of the experience.
