Built and opened in 1923, it is the first authentic Western-style theater in Kansai. Renovated in 1997, it retains the new Renaissance-style main entrance known as the Arc de Triomphe of Dotonbori, and has been completely remodeled with the latest facilities. It hosts a variety of performances including Kabuki, contemporary theater, comedy shows, as well as concerts, musicals, and Rakugo performances.
To ensure that first-time Kabuki viewers can enjoy the experience, manuals with character explanations and audio guides are available for sale, allowing the audience to understand the work's commentary and key points while watching the performance.
