🎨 Attraction Gallery
📝 Introduction
Ishigaki Island offers a wide variety of local specialties and is a historic little island kitchen.
📖 Details
Located within the "Ishigaki Island Central Euglena Mall," this large three-story market sells local specialties and serves as a dining hall. For locals, it feels like a home kitchen, while for tourists, it is the best place to purchase souvenirs.
The market originated in the 32nd year of the Meiji era (1899). Initially, it was a market selling fish catches located south of the Yaeyama Post Office. Later, in the 37th year of the Meiji era (1904), it moved to its current location and became a publicly operated market run by the village, accompanying the lives of local residents. It was renovated and reopened in May 2021, with a designated dining area planned.
The market features 23 shops selling various types of products, including meat, fresh fish, and souvenirs. The first floor has fresh food items such as meat, fresh fish, and fish cakes, along with dining spaces. The second floor includes a sales center for many Ishigaki City souvenirs and a T-shirt shop, as well as an opportunity to experience trying out the sanshin (三線)! The third floor has establishments like "Ichiban Shokudo," where you can enjoy Okinawan cuisine.
