🎨 Attraction Gallery
📝 Introduction
You can appreciate the splendid performances of the Atami geisha.
📖 Details
Atami City in Shizuoka Prefecture was once one of Japan's top "flower districts." There are about 50 geisha houses known as "okiya" in Atami City, with over 100 geishas registered. In 1998, to promote the traditional arts of Atami geishas, the geisha performance hall (okiya association) was opened to the public for visits, allowing tourists to enjoy the rare opportunity to see professional geisha performances.
Every weekend, a performance called "Geisha Performance Tour - Dance of the Hot Spring Town" (Japanese: 芸妓見番ぶらり―湯めまちをどり華の舞―) is held. The geisha performance hall opens its doors to showcase the dance performances of the geishas. Starting at 11 AM, there is one performance each day, where you can enjoy the harmonious collaboration between the musicians playing instruments like the shamisen and the dancers.
Additionally, in October 2023, a tea house for Atami geishas opened in the vacant lot next to the Atami geisha performance hall. This facility allows visitors to experience geisha culture through dance and traditional games, and it operates on a reservation basis. There are three different packages available, including a matcha set.
⭐ Highlights
