🗺️ Ishigaki Island Limestone Cave

Located in the southern part of Ishigaki Island in the Yaeyama Islands, this is the southernmost tourist limestone cave in all of Japan. Formed by nature over 200,000 years, it boasts beautiful landscapes stretching 3.2 kilometers, making it the largest limestone cave on Ishigaki Island. The 660-meter section open for visitors features several highlights worth seeing. These include the "Shinsen Sculpture Forest," where countless stalactites hang in a massive cave, the "Totoro Stalactite," which resembles the character Totoro and has sparked interest, and the "Don't Fall Down (Shiken Stone)," which stands precariously on a cliff. Colorful lighting within the cave adds a touch of mystery to this underground palace-like world. Inside the cave, fossils such as giant clams tell the story of its past as a seabed. The vast underground space, formed from coral reefs into numerous stalactite groups, leads visitors into a fantastical world. Additionally, there is a cafeteria where guests can easily enjoy Okinawan home-cooked dishes, and a product hall that showcases local specialties from Ishigaki Island.
