📜 Restaurant Details

Kashiya is a famous wagashi shop located near Nara's Gangoji Temple. It offers a wide variety of snacks, from fresh wagashi to dried sweets, as well as seasonal treats. The shop's exterior, remodeled from a traditional house, evokes the charming streets of ancient Nara. Among the many wagashi, the "Mikiyoshi," made with top-quality Yoshino honkuzu and Tanba red beans for the red bean paste, is particularly popular. Mikiyoshi can be chosen from two types: steamed yokan and kuzuyaki, both of which are highly recommended by the shop owner. The second floor of the shop features a café where you can enjoy freshly made wagashi paired with coffee, matcha, or sencha. Especially in summer, the shaved ice served with warabi mochi is very popular. Additionally, on the first floor, there is a reservation-based set menu at the counter where a master craftsman prepares wagashi on the spot, allowing guests to sample a variety of wagashi that Kashiya takes pride in.
