🗺️ Malios Viewing Platform

📝 Introduction

A landmark tower that offers a panoramic view of the cityscape of Morioka, located near Morioka Station.

📖 Details

Located just a 3-minute walk from the west exit of Morioka Station, "Malios" is one of the tallest skyscrapers in the Tohoku region, standing at 92 meters. It is also a landmark tower in Morioka City, with the observation deck situated at the very top of the building. During the Christmas season, a limited-time light display transforms the entire building into one of the main attractions of the light show, adding brilliance to the winter landscape of Morioka. The observation deck is free to enter, allowing visitors to relax on benches and enjoy leisurely moments, overlook the cityscape of Morioka with the Kitakami River and Shizukuishi River flowing through it, or gaze at the scenic mountains such as Iwate Mountain and Himekami Mountain, which are part of Japan's 100 famous mountains, appreciating the beauty of the changing seasons. In winter, one can also see flocks of swans that come to the area to spend the winter. This space is also widely used for exhibitions held by local community groups and professionals, such as painting or photography displays. The regular opening hours are from 9 AM to 6 PM, with special hours during fireworks festivals or events. After 2021, a paid workspace was introduced, allowing individuals to enjoy a fantastic view from window-side seats, helping them to focus better while working remotely.

⭐ Highlights

You can enjoy a 360-degree view from the top floor of a 92-meter tall skyscraper. There are benches available for resting or waiting during a date. One corner of the observation deck features a workspace.
