⛩️ Nogi Jinja Shrine (乃木神社)
🎨 Shrine Gallery
📝 Introduction
Said to bring good luck in academics, competitions, and marital harmony. A shrine full of greenery.
📖 Details
Nogi Shrine (乃木神社) is dedicated to the military figure from the Meiji era, Nogi Maresuke (乃木希典), and his wife, Nogi Shizuko (乃木靜子命). Due to his significant accomplishments during his lifetime, he is believed to be effective in bestowing good fortune in competitions and success in studies.
Additionally, as the shrine enshrines the spirits of General Nogi and his wife, it serves as a popular venue for weddings conducted in the presence of deities (神前式婚禮). Nogi Shrine offers two types of couples' amulets: the "Yorisohimamoru" (永結同心御守), which symbolizes eternal togetherness, and the "Tsuressuhimamoru" (幸福美滿御守), which signifies happiness and fulfillment. These amulets are quite popular, so they may sometimes be sold out.
In 2023, the shrine celebrated its 100th anniversary, hosting a variety of lively festival activities.
⭐ Highlights
This shrine is believed to bless academic achievements, success in competitions, and harmonious marriages. Two types of couple amulets are particularly popular: the "永結同心御守" (Eiketsu Doshin Omamori) and the "幸福美滿御守" (Kōfuku Biman Omamori). The shrine building, designed by architect "大江宏" (Oe Hiroshi), combines modern and traditional styles. The red carpet that extends along the corridor to the main hall, as well as the rows of red torii gates at the dedicated shrine, 赤坂王子稲荷神社 (Akasaka Oji Inari Shrine), are popular photo spots.
