📝 Introduction
Standing in the Nasu Onsen area, a historic energy spot.
📖 Details
Around the year 630 AD, the hunter Kanno Saburo Yukihiro entered the deep mountains while chasing a white deer and discovered hot springs gushing from the valley. He established a shrine at this location, which became the origin of the Nasu Onsen Shrine.
The shrine enshrines three deities: "Ōkuninushi no Mikoto," who blesses good relationships and health; "Sukuna Hikona no Mikoto," revered as the god of sake and hot springs; and "Yamato Takeru no Mikoto," known as the god of martial prowess. During the Genpei War, the outstanding archer Nasu no Yoichi came here to pray for protection and successfully defeated the enemy, which is why the shrine is deeply respected by the people.
There are many highlights worth seeing within the shrine grounds. These include the "Yamato Hosoishi," mentioned in the lyrics of the Japanese national anthem; a giant sacred tree estimated to be 800 years old; and the "Third Torii," considered a powerful energy spot due to a donation from Nasu no Yoichi. Additionally, there are various unique talismans, such as the "Hit the Mark Amulet," featuring Nasu no Yoichi, and the "Stress Relief Amulet," shaped like a sake bottle.
