📖 Odakyu Romancecar

📝 Introduction

The limited express trains from Shinjuku to Hakone and Katase Enoshima.

📖 Details

The Odakyu Romancecar, operated by "Odakyu Electric Railway," originated from the direct train "Weekend Onsen Express" that ran between Shinjuku and Odawara in the 1930s. With a history of over 80 years, it is a limited express train with all reserved seating. The representative train of the Romancecar is the GSE (70000 series), which began service in 2018. Its side design features the traditional vermilion orange inherited from previous models. The first car has observation seating with large single-pane windows, allowing passengers to enjoy breathtaking views, making it a very popular choice. The general seating, which has the widest seat width in the Romancecar, also offers a spacious feel with continuous windows that are 1 meter high, allowing for leisurely enjoyment of the scenery along the route. Additionally, there are the deep blue MSE (60000 series) that runs into the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line, as well as the EXE and EXEα (30000 series), which can accommodate more passengers. Currently, there are four types of trains in operation. During peak morning and evening commuting hours, they also run, making them not only a popular choice for sightseeing but also a convenient tool for commuting and school travel.
