📖 Details
A museum themed around "play, handmade, and exploration," where people of all generations can immerse themselves in the joy of toys. The museum is housed in the old Yotsuya Fourth Elementary School building, constructed before World War II and now decommissioned, which has been extensively renovated using a large amount of domestic timber to create a warm, wooden space.
In the "Toy Forest," there are toys and play equipment made from domestic wood that visitors can play with and explore, as well as a ball pit filled with 20,000 wooden balls made from broadleaf trees from Hokkaido. The museum features a "Planning Exhibition Room" showcasing toys from Japan and around the world, among a total of eight spaces that allow visitors to play while personally experiencing the charm of toys. There is also a display room featuring award-winning toys recognized as "Good Toys," a "Toddler's Small World" specifically for children aged 0 to 2, and a handmade workshop where toys can be created using readily available materials.
The museum shop offers a wide variety of wooden toys, captivating visitors, and is open to non-admission guests for shopping. Visitors can physically touch the items, making it convenient for selecting souvenirs or gifts.
