🗺️ Yachimun Dojo, Tsuboya Pottery Training Center

📝 Introduction

In a kiln with a 300-year history, we create the one-of-a-kind Yachimun.

📖 Details

The "Ikutouen," which has a history of over 300 years in producing Yachimun (a unique pottery from Okinawa), offers a pottery experience facility. With the philosophy of "learning techniques and culture joyfully, and personally experiencing Yachimun," it provides various experience courses that even children can enjoy in a short time. The most popular course, "Handmade Fūshijya," is a favorite among first-time Yachimun makers and families traveling with children. In about 60 to 90 minutes, participants can create a pottery piece of the traditional guardian deity of Okinawa, "Fūshijya." Other popular experiences include making vessels using a potter's wheel or hand-shaping with clay slabs, followed by free painting with traditional glazes.

⭐ Highlights

Young children can also experience making Yachimun in a short time. All works will be sent by mail (shipping fees apply). It is best to make an online reservation in advance; if you wish to participate the day before or on the same day, please call for inquiries. Works from the pottery studio can be purchased in the attached store.
