⛩️ Yokai Shrine

📝 Introduction

Located on "Suimoku Shigen no Michi," there is a unique shrine filled with yokai everywhere.

📖 Details

The shrine located on the "Mizuki Shigeru Road," lined with various yokai statues, features a unique torii gate designed in the shape of a "yurei." The shrine's sacred object is a black marble that underwent a soul-invocation ceremony by Mizuki Shigeru, the author of "GeGeGe no Kitaro," along with a 300-year-old cypress tree. Inside the shrine grounds, in addition to the yurei-shaped torii, there are many special three-dimensional sculptures of yokai. Before worshipping, visitors cleanse their hands at the "Eyeball Old Man's Purification Water" made of marble, and during worship, they clap their hands to call upon the yokai. This amusement park-like way of worship is especially popular among children. The most famous feature is the fortune-drawing, where you drop a 200 yen coin, and a yokai automaton will perform an exorcism gesture and bow, then dispense a capsule containing a fortune slip. There are five types of yokai figurines, and the anticipation of which yokai will appear is exciting. Additionally, the ema (votive tablets) and omamori (amulets) also feature yokai designs, so don't forget to take a look at those as well.
