📝 Introduction

📖 Details

One of the few stained glass-themed art museums in Japan, it showcases numerous antique stained glass pieces made in Europe after the 1800s. "Neil's House" features seven exhibition rooms that highlight the beauty of stained glass through dazzling lighting. In addition to showcasing masterpieces by Art Nouveau master Émile Gallé, the stained glass works of Harry Clarke are also prominently displayed, with each piece being quite rare and highly valuable for viewing. Not only are the artworks outstanding, but the elegant and intricate interior and exterior decor crafted by British artisans, including wallpapers, curtains, roofs, and even red bricks, are made from imported materials from England, showcasing a refined taste. Within the premises, another building, "St. Robert's Church," is constructed using intricate woodworking techniques and Hinoki cypress from Hita City in Oita Prefecture, fully displaying the texture of the wood. The stained glass windows serve as decoration, creating a solemn and elegant atmosphere. In addition to the stained glass, crosses and chalices crafted by renowned artists are also filled with artistic flair, inviting visitors to pause and admire. The most popular items in the museum shop are the original products created by the museum. Decorative panels, lighting fixtures, accessories, and stained glass ornaments make excellent choices for souvenirs to remember the visit.
