📝 Introduction
Like an oasis in a bustling city, it is a beautiful spot where you can enjoy the stunning flowers of the four seasons while taking a leisurely stroll.
📖 Details
The Goten-yama Garden is located to the south of the Tokyo Marriott Hotel and is a Japanese garden that conveys the beauty and charm of Goten-yama from the past to future generations. Goten-yama was depicted in ukiyo-e as a famous spot for cherry blossoms and autumn leaves during the Edo period.
The name Goten-yama originates from "Shinagawa Goten," a resting place for various shoguns of the Edo shogunate, including Tokugawa Ieyasu, during their falconry excursions. Goten-yama was once a small hill overlooking Tokyo Bay and was a renowned cherry blossom viewing spot that captivated many visitors during the era of Tokugawa Yoshimune. Today, Goten-yama, along with surrounding hotels, office buildings, and upscale residences, forms a complex known as the "Goten-yama Credit City Building."
The garden covers approximately 6,600 square meters, allowing visitors to stroll through the spacious grounds while enjoying the seasonal floral displays. In spring, there are plum and cherry blossoms; in early summer, hydrangeas; in autumn, colorful leaves; and in winter, camellias. Within the garden, visitors can also explore facilities such as the tea room "Yuzuan," designed by the renowned architect Arata Isozaki, and the small chapel "The Forest" at the Tokyo Marriott Hotel, with various events held throughout the year.
