📝 Introduction

📖 Details
Horikiri Shobuen is located along the Ayase River, which flows from Saitama Prefecture to Tokyo. The Horikiri area has long been known as a famous spot for viewing irises and has been a subject for ukiyo-e artists such as Utagawa Hiroshige and Utagawa Kuniyoshi during the Edo period. Covering an area of 7,700 square meters, the garden is home to about 200 varieties and 6,000 iris plants. In addition to the most common Edo irises, visitors can also see rare varieties such as "Juni Hitoe," "Zui Bijin," and "Nishou Ue," which are quite popular among flower enthusiasts. The best time to view the flowers is in early June, and around June 10 to the 20th, the "Katsushika Iris Festival" is held. During the festival, there are parades, stalls, and markets, making the entire area lively and festive.
In addition to irises, the garden features seasonal flowers and plants such as plum blossoms, wisteria, winter cherry blossoms, and peonies, ensuring beautiful scenery no matter when you visit. The "Shikantei" within the garden has a café open to visitors, offering desserts, drinks, and light meals. If reserved in advance, it can also host banquets.
