🗺️ Catholic Church of St. Ignatius in Kōjimachi

Located in Yotsuya, Tokyo, the Catholic church holds Mass in various languages every Sunday. The name "Saint Ignatius" is derived from Saint Ignatius of Loyola, the founder and first Superior General of the Jesuits. It was originally established as the Little Church of the Infant Jesus in 1936 and has been beloved by parishioners and locals for over 80 years. The current church was completed in 1999. The building is centered around an oval-shaped main sanctuary, with a statue of Jesus on the front wall symbolizing the resurrection and freedom from suffering and death. The priests, altar servers, parishioners, choir, and balcony seating all radiate around the altar. At the center of the sanctuary is a table altar symbolizing the "Last Supper" shared by Jesus and his disciples, with 12 pillars representing the 12 apostles who support the Christian church. The 12 stained glass panels embedded in the walls depict the natural world created by God. Additionally, there are the Church of the Virgin Mary and the Xavier Church, where one can also purchase Bibles, Christian-related books, CDs, rosaries, and statues at the church service office.

Located in the heart of Tokyo's Yotsuya district, this Catholic church features a main sanctuary with 700 seats arranged radially around the altar. There are also uniquely designed chapels dedicated to the Virgin Mary and St. Francis Xavier. The church office offers Christian-related materials such as Bibles, books, and CDs.
