🗺️ Tokyo Kyomon Bridge

📝 Introduction

The uniquely designed and eye-catching Tokyo Bay Truss Bridge.

📖 Details

The Tokyo Kyo-mon Bridge has a total length of 2,618 meters and a height of approximately 88 meters. It connects the Wakasu area of Koto Ward with the Koto Ward's Uminomori and the central breakwater. It opened in 2012, and cars can pass through for free. Due to its proximity to Haneda Airport and considerations for the navigation safety of vessels in Tokyo Bay, the bridge features a distinctive design. Pedestrians can access the walkway area from the elevation facilities on the Wakasu side of Koto Ward, while there is a pedestrian walkway on the urban side. However, it is not possible to descend from the bridge on the central breakwater side; to get off the bridge, one must walk back toward Wakasu. Bicycles and motorcycles are not allowed, and pets cannot be brought onto the bridge. Access may be restricted during inclement weather or heavy snowfall, so it is recommended to check the official Twitter of the Tokyo Port Authority beforehand. Every day from sunset until midnight, the bridge is illuminated at night, with the light colors changing according to the month. Each month's main color uses traditional Japanese colors: January is platinum, February is pearl, March is wakakusa (young grass), April is fresh green, May is aoyanagi (green leaves), June is water blue, July is sea blue, August is sky blue, September is kikyo (bellflower), October is autumn grass, November is momiji (maple), and December is scarlet.
