📝 Introduction
Experience the beauty of Japan through gardens, architecture, and cuisine filled with the charm of the four seasons.
📖 Details
Adjacent to the Hakaban-dai Station, "Happo-en" boasts a vast Japanese garden covering an area of 10,000 tsubo. The garden, filled with seasonal flowers and historic buildings, showcases the beauty of each season, embodying the meaning behind its name "Happo-en," which translates to "beauty from all directions." It serves as a tranquil and healing spot.
Originally the residence of Okubo Tadanobu, a samurai serving the Tokugawa shogunate during the Edo period, the garden and its surroundings were constructed by entrepreneur Kihara Bozō during the Taisho era. The stroll garden, centered around a pond where koi swim and water birds gather, is surrounded by a relocated tea house from the Meiji era, as well as a collection of bonsai trees, some over 500 years old. In this serene atmosphere that makes one forget they are in the heart of Tokyo, visitors can fully relax and unwind.
The premises also feature a wedding venue and a restaurant, allowing for wedding receptions or dining amidst pleasant scenery. In addition to the garden's annex "Hakuho-kan," there are various venues spread across the six floors of the main building. There are two restaurants: "Thrush Café," which specializes in dishes made from fresh vegetables, and "Tsubonokan," a traditional restaurant that skillfully prepares seasonal ingredients with a touch of artistry.
