Located near JR Okayama Station, the zoo is situated at the foothills of Mount Kyoyama. Utilizing the hilly terrain, the zoo is filled with greenery and allows visitors to interact with many adorable animals. The most popular animal star at Ikeda Zoo is the white tiger "Sun," who joined the zoo in 2019. There are only about 40 white tigers in the zoo, making it a rare opportunity to see this precious creature up close. Other animals include the reticulated giraffe, Burchell's zebra, raccoon, scarlet ibis, and Magellanic penguin, totaling around 100 species. The zoo hosts many activities that allow visitors to interact with the animals. There are feeding experiences with capybaras, penguins, and moon bears, as well as mini horse riding experiences and a petting area where visitors can interact with rabbits and chicks. Additionally, the "Night Zoo," which opens during the day and continues into the evening, has also become quite popular.
