🗺️ Iwate Prefectural Museum of Art

The art museum located in Morioka Central Park mainly showcases works by various artists from Iwate Prefecture. It features works by prominent Western-style painter Man Kengoro, who was quite active during the Taisho to early Showa periods; Matsumoto Shunsuke, a well-known Western painter who also actively engaged in writing; and post-war representative sculptor Funakoshi Yasutake, among others. The permanent exhibition room holds four exhibitions each year, rotating the museum's collection. The "Collection Talk," where curators explain the works based on a specific theme, is also highly praised (held on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month). The planning exhibition room introduces outstanding works from modern and contemporary art according to various themes. In addition to exhibitions, the Iwate Prefectural Art Museum actively promotes experiential activities suitable for a wide range of age groups. It regularly hosts rich activities that bring people closer to art, such as lectures, hands-on courses, and film screenings, creating an environment where art feels accessible. Tickets for the special exhibitions also allow access to the collection exhibitions.

The exhibition primarily showcases the works of three artists from Iwate Prefecture: Manjiro Watanabe, Junshuke Matsumoto, and Yasutake Funakoshi. It actively promotes experiential activities suitable for a wide range of age groups. Regularly held events include lectures and hands-on courses that allow people to engage closely with the arts.
