🗺️ Katsuura Marine Park Underwater Observation Tower

The area of 14.5 hectares along the Katsuura Coast in the Boso Peninsula of Chiba Prefecture has been designated as Katsuura Marine Park, with the underwater observatory tower being the main facility. The observatory tower is located 60 meters offshore, stands about 24 meters tall, and is situated in water that is 8 meters deep, allowing visitors to observe around 90 species of marine life throughout the year. Visitors can walk to the observatory tower via an open-air sea bridge. From the bridge, one can closely see the rock surfaces eroded by the waves, which is quite stunning. Next, visitors descend 96 spiral stairs down to the sea. Through the glass windows of the observatory tower, one can see schools of fish swimming freely in the water, and sometimes even sharks come close. If you happen to be there during feeding time, you can also witness large schools of fish. There is also an observation room at sea, where you can gaze at Ubara Ideal Village, Hachiman Cape, and Katsuura Lighthouse through large glass windows.
