🗺️ Noboribetsu Onsen

📝 Introduction

Accompanied by the historical development of Hokkaido, it has become one of Japan's top hot spring areas.

📖 Details

Noboribetsu Onsen is a famous hot spring located in the "Iburi" region of southwestern Hokkaido. As a hot spring area with various types of mineral waters, it is a rare place that has been well-known since the Edo period. Most of the hot spring sources originate from "Jigokudani" (Hell Valley), formed by volcanic activity approximately 10,000 years ago. The daily output of hot spring water reaches about 10,000 tons, allowing visitors to enjoy the pleasure of soaking in uniquely designed baths and tubs at ryokans or hotels. The volcanic crater "Jigokudani," with a diameter of about 450 meters, was formed by volcanic eruptions from Mt. Hiyori, along with the "Oyunuma," which emits a large amount of sulfuric spring water, and "Oku no Yu," where sulfur springs bubble up from the bottom of the pond, resembling a boiling pot. The area is dotted with famous attractions where one can feel the ancient rhythms of the Earth. The streets of the hot spring town are filled with wafting steam, creating a hot spring atmosphere, and are adorned with various demon decorations to welcome tourists. There are also foot baths, public baths, restaurants, and souvenir shops lined up, making it easy to enjoy a day trip.
